Summary: North Star Housing Group came to us to to make their company more innovative and bringing a creative culture to the workplace, particularly creative spaces for their staff. I found the initial brief confusing, and felt that to have a culture of creativity and effective communications across the organizational structure, we should focus on the employees (such as morale/motivation). Eventually, after the workshop, our cohort were more aware of what was needed - to inform an interior design team to change the environment of their workplace. The project is still ongoing, yet much progress has been made thus far. In all honesty, I have little interest in environmental design, due to my opinion of the importance of staff in an organization. Overall however, I have improved my knowledge further of organizational behaviour and communication.
-
Initially, I took a different direction to the brief. With my background in motivation and changing behaviour, I focused on employees and how to maximise communication and productivity from that perspective.
-
It was my own personal opinion that this aspect to an organization is crucial to success, and also that during organizational change, it is important to ease staff through transition and avoid conflict wherever possible. This is acheived via the employees.

-
I had the task of delivering an exercise for the workshop. I decided to still remain focused on a human-centered approach, where I planned to gain knowledge in staff, the tasks they complete during the day, the location and also their mood.
-
This enabled us to have a good insight of a typical working day, for multiple employees of multiple floors and working spaces.
-
Following the workshop, I had to analysis our results. I attempted to make it visually appealing and esy to understand for our client. Me and a colleague drew findings and conclusions of the exercise and presented them to others in the cohort.
-
After the workshop, we now had a definitive brief to inform an interior designteam to implement changes of their working environment.
While this project is still ongoing, I have shown small interest due to my lack of motivation in interior design and opposing opinions on the brief presented to us. On the other hand, I have learned more of organizations - including behaviours and how to change it more efficiently during change. This translates well into the real world, as many companies still adopt out-dated, authoritarian-led structures.
I am eager to see how this project unfolds, especially if my presentation idea is taken forward. Of the research I have undertaken, no known 3D Interior Model Canvas exists as such.

-
Now we had the problem of presenting our findings to North Star Housing Group and also to the interior designers.
-
I produced an innovative solution, which combined a business model canvas and a 3D printed model of the floor plans. From here, we can then show a tangible model of each floor while the canvas reinforces the proposals suggested. This idea is currently in discussion with my colleagues.
