Summary: Mind, a well established mental health organization based in the UK, was the first project of semester one. We were approached to explore the reasons behind non-engagement and disengagement of the service they provide. The experience initially was very alien to me, and a first of its kind. Gradually, I became more confident and could heavily apply my expertise in psychology, mental health and interventions in to contribute effectively within our project team. Our findings were presented to our clients, and received high praise. We included recommendations and future collaboration with Mind to reinforce our service proposal. Our project team all held the opinion to provide our client with future value.

  • Our project team mapped all relevant stakeholders including the influence of making change and relationships between them. Furthermore, we were able to identify what each member of the team could contribute with their background and experience.

  • We received further information through challenging the brief with our clients in numerous intervews. This gave us a good insight into our clients real problems.

  • To understand the service better, my colleague mapped the existing service and highlighted each major touchpoint in the process.

  • We established areas that were of high importance, using a priority grid. Now we were able to focus on the most significant areas for improvement. From there we began to ideate as a team to consider solutions.

  • More background research followed, combined with regular team discussions. I had noticed the service overall on a fundamental level was to essentially ellicit behavioural change.

  • I was able to combine a well-known behavioural change model to match the experience blueprint. This meant we could reinforce all interventions made based on recent research in the fields of psychology.
